UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI
General Biology for the Advanced Program For Integrated Science and Math (PRISM) (Fall 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
I was the PRISM graduate TA, which means I aided in writing and grading exams, helped to organize workshops, and kept track of workshop assignments. PRISM is a two-year sequence that uses a cross-discipline integrative approach to science, and is started by outstanding freshmen planning to major in the sciences.
Evolution and Biodiversity Lab (Spring 2014, 2015, 2016)
As a lab instructor for this course, I led the students through two 6-week projects. The first project involved examining the biodiversity of marine habitats, and the second project involved examining agonistic behavior in Betta splendens. Over the course of the six weeks, students developed their own project ideas and methodology, collected data, analyzed their results, and then presented their findings to the class either through a PowerPoint presentation or a poster session.

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN
Evolution Recitation (Spring 2013)
I led the recitation session for Dr. William Wagner’s upper-level evolution course. 12 case studies were presented to the students over the semester based on various in topics in evolution, such as neutral vs. adaptive evolution, sexual selection in barn swallows, and Hox gene diversification. The students would read papers before coming to class and then work together in teams to answer a series of thought-inducing questions.
Organismic Biology Lab (Fall 2011, 2012; Spring 2012, 2013)
As the instructor for this lab, I guided students through a series of hands-on activities exploring the diversity and evolution of life across bacteria, microeukaryotes, fungi, plants, and animals. Over the course of several individual writing assignments, each student put together a scientific report (introduction, methods, results, discussion, works cited) on the relationship between size and agonistic behavior in crayfish.
Field Comparative Physiology (Summer 2011, 2012)
I was a teaching assistant for Dr. Gwen Bachman’s three-week field course at UNL’s Cedar Point Biological Station, which is located near Ogallala, Nebraska. Students were given a series of lectures in the first week on basic topics in physiology, and then developed independent group field projects focusing on the populations of ornate box turtles and Woodhouse’s toads at Cedar Point. The students’ research projects culminated in a written research paper and a presentation to the class.
General Biology Lab (Fall 2010, Spring 2011)
I was a lab instructor for this class that presented an overview of biology to non-majors. Each week, students conducted a series of activities covering biology topics such as cellular respiration, enzymes, photosynthesis, and animal behavior. In addition, this class was writing-intensive as individual written assignments were due from each student approximately every other week.

GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE
Cellular and Molecular Lab (Fall 2007, 2008)
Organismal Biology Lab (Spring 2007)
Principles of Biology Lab (Fall 2006, 2007)
At GAC, I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for three core classes in the biology major sequence. As an undergraduate teaching assistant, I would aid the professors in teaching the labs by answering questions and providing individual help to students when needed.
